The Long Way Home

A night train, a sleeping city and a father who almost misses Christmas. A 60-second film about the journeys that matter.

The story

How it came together

From the first brief to the final frame: the thinking, the shoot and what happened next.

The brief

Nordvik Rail wanted to remind people that the train is not just a way to get somewhere, but part of the trip itself. The holiday campaign had to feel warm without slipping into the usual festive clichés.

The idea

One passenger, one night, one window. We follow a father travelling home through the dark, and let the landscape outside tell the story of the hours he is losing and winning back.

The shoot

Three nights on a moving train, shot almost entirely in available light. We used practical lamps inside the carriage and let the cities outside become the only set dressing.

The result

The film ran across TV and social in four markets and became the most shared spot in the client's history.
